Ex-WARRANT Singer JANI LANE Reportedly Owes More Than $100K In Federal Income Tax
June 21, 2009Robert Snell of The Detroit News reports that former WARRANT lead singer Jani Lane is deep in debt to the IRS, public records show.
Lane, 45, who was busted late Wednesday (June 17) in California for suspicion of DUI, owes $121,024 in federal income taxes, records show.
The IRS filed a $121,024 lien against Lane and his ex-wife on April 4, 2005 in the Summit County (Ohio) Recorder's office. According to this lien, Lane owes income taxes from 1996 to 2003.
Lane was involved in a small fender bender in the Woodland Hills, California area at around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, according to police. Lane allegedly hit a parked car and when cops arrived at the scene, he showed signs of intoxication.
No one was injured in the incident.
The singer was arrested and taken to LAPD's Van Nuys division where he was booked for a misdemeanor and was released the next morning on $30,000 bail.
Lane originally left WARRANT in 2002 to pursue a solo career. He released a solo album, "Back Down to One", in 2003, but shortly after was admitted to a rehab center for alcohol and drug-related exhaustion. He also appeared on VH1's reality series "Celebrity Fit Club".
WARRANT announced in September 2008 that it was splitting with Jani Lane six months after the band first reunited with the troubled vocalist. He has since been replaced by Robert Mason (LYNCH MOB, CRY OF LOVE, BIG COCK).
In a statement released this past Friday (June 19),the current members of WARRANT emphasized that "Jani Lane's actions should not be misrepresented as those of the lead singer of WARRANT. WARRANT, whose lineup consists of Jerry Dixon, Joey Allen, Erik Turner, Steven Sweet and Robert Mason, express concern for the possible dangers that Mr. Lane's actions pose. WARRANT, represented by the William Morris Agency, are embarking on new ventures, including touring and recording. WARRANT wish to avoid any negative opinions and publicity that wrongful association to Mr. Lane might cause resulting from his poor judgment."
